An Official Announcement..

So today I have a pretty crazy, but exciting announcement to make. Before I make it, I would like to take the time to say that Hillsong is an awesome place! They’ve helped me grow as a person, along with God building who I am, and helping me understand who I am in Him.
I enjoy, for the most part, doing Kids Creative (worship teams for Hillsong Kids!). Some days I do wake up very homesick, and ready to just move back to the states and live life how I’d like to. Missing my family, my girlfriend, etc, etc..is just apart of my everyday life now.
Everywhere I go, I either have to (1)walk, or (2) find a lift with someone who has a car. I don’t really like having to ask people for rides, because really...I feel like I’m imposing. Now if it’s a house mate, and we’re going to the same place, that makes it a bit easier, but I still feel bad inside.
The seasons have changed, and it is now winter here...which means cold, and rainy (at least it’s not snowing! There’s no insulation in most houses down here, so we’d all freeze!). Now it does get bone chilling down here! The temperature may read something that sounds warm to you, but the houses are like a fridge in the winter, and an oven in the summer (just to put things in more of a feeling perspective haha).
College life is alright, I just assumed that coming to Hillsong International Leadership College for the Worship Music Stream, that it would be half learning music and half learning and being equipped to be a leader in a church environment. When in reality here you learn mainly to be a leader, and you just use the gifts that you already have musically, and practice and learn on your own at home (which is what I was doing back home anyways as far as music goes).
Now I wish that I could afford a car, so that way I would have to walk to school everyday that I can’t bum a ride, not have to worry about having a hard time to find a job because my only means of transportation is my feet...etc, etc.. So here’s the BIG announcement..
I am planning on returning to the United States of America in July 2010 to, at least, work for one year and save up money for maybe returning to Hillsong College in July 2012.
Now I italicized words for a reason...this reason is that nothing is set in stone BUT me returning to the states in July. So who knows what God has in store for me over the next 5 years? I sure don’t. All I know is what He’s told me, and what I am doing now.
So this announcement was surprising, eh? Haha, please keep me in yours? Leave a comment, and give me your thoughts please? :)

Much love form the land down under!

31 January 2010

January..

THE month that I had been waiting for. The 11th to be exact, because that was the date that I left the United States of America to move here to Australia. It was really hard to leave my family, friends and girlfriend (Josey). But I kept the attitude of "it's all for the Glory of God" and I want His will to be done here on earth, so it's only through Him that I could do this.

But I've now been here for what seems not long at all, but 3 weeks...time has flown by me so fast, I don't have any idea where it all went! But I'm finally here now and blogging for you all to keep up to date with me!

So far I have enjoyed, beyond belief, every Hillsong service I have gone to. But so far for worship leaders I've only seen Jadwin Gillies, Jonathan Douglass, Darlene Zschech, Matt Crocker and Ruben Morgan lead worship (the mainly known worship leaders form the Hillsong worship albums).

But Hillsong is much more than just a church that puts out its very own worship record every year. It's a church for people. Everyone you meet at Hillsong loves people, cares about everyone, even if they know who you are or not. This is amazing! A church with one heart and vision, a church with so much passion and compassion. I've never experienced anything like it!

This past Wednesday we had musical and vocal 'auditions' for the trainers here at Hillsong College to place us in the correct class levels. This way we can learn as much as possible whilst attending Hillsong College. I did both, and did fine in both of them.

Hillsong College starts tomorrow (2 Feb 2010). It's going to be awesome! We have what they call 'intensives' for the first two weeks of college. I'll go from 8am to about 4pm or after each day we have class. This week we only have classes Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. And I believe next week is Monday thru Thursday.

Now I'm just working on this site, and waiting for college stuff to happen! haha
More to come mates!

Thanks for reading & G'day!

This blog's purpose is for you and me to stay connected after I move.. so you should keep checking back for updates, because as soon as I get settled in "down-under", I'll be posting info on what's going on, and have pictures for you to see what I've gotten to see!

Thanks,
Christian
